Main Tenses Exercise

Choose between the present simple and present continuous tenses.

​Example:  John (go) shopping every Saturday – John goes shopping every Saturday.

  1. ​Eva (not go) to school on Saturday.
  2. It often (snows) in the winter.
  3. Look there! What those people (do)?
  4. Could I call you back later? I (cook) dinner right now.
  5. What he (do)? He is a lawyer.
  6. They currently (build) a new cinema.
  7. Isabel often (not write) to me.
  8. What you (eat)? It looks tasty.
  9. I (buy) my fruit and vegetables at the market every Thursday.
  10. What she (do) now? She (sleep).

 

Choose between Present Continuous and Present Perfect Continuous.

Example: I (play) the piano since I was 8. I have been playing the piano since I was 8.

  1. Arthur (learn) English for 2 years.
  2. Why that man (laughing) at us?
  3. Let’s go outside. The sun (shine).
  4. I (wait) here since 8 o’clock.
  5. How long you (live) here?
  6. Wait for me! I (come).
  7. Tim (look) for a job since August.
  8. They (not recruit) at the moment.
  9. I (try) to reach you all day.
  10. Some people still (dance).
